About ALDI

A Century of German Retail Excellence

Founded in 1913 in Essen, Germany, ALDI has grown from a small family-owned grocery store into one of the world's leading retailers, with over 10,000 stores across 10+ countries. Ranked 4th in the 2024 "Global Retail 50," we've proven that simplicity and efficiency are timeless retail principles.

Our Philosophy: Less is More

While traditional supermarkets stock tens of thousands of items, ALDI focuses on just 1,500–2,000 essential, everyday products. This curated selection enables massive bulk purchasing, drastically reducing costs. With over 90% private-label brands, we eliminate marketing overhead and brand premiums—so you pay only for quality, not for the label.

ALDI in China

Since entering China in 2017 via Tmall and opening our first physical stores in Shanghai in 2019, we've brought our "Great Quality, Low Price" promise to Chinese consumers. Blending the community supermarket with a fresh kitchen concept, we offer ready-to-eat meals alongside premium groceries. With 50+ stores in Shanghai and digital services via WeChat Mini Program, Ele.me, Meituan, and JD Daojia, we deliver convenience both in-store and online.

Our Commitment

Sustainability is at our core. We source responsibly, aim for climate-zero operations, and respect human rights across our supply chain. We invest in our employees and give back to local communities, including partnerships with food banks to reduce waste and support families in need.

At ALDI, we prove that less truly can be more—more value, more quality, and more responsibility.
